ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Carnaúba sweater is a fun and interesting pattern, worked in a basket-weave cable stitch pattern in the round from the bottom up.
The Carnaúba was inspired by the palm tree of the same name, very common in the semi-arid region of Northeast Brazil. Also called the ‘tree of life’ for its many uses, such as medicinal teas, waxes and construction logs, it is also a very popular employed material in crafts in many local communities. Baskets, hats, boxes, lampshades, mats, are all woven using carnaúba leaves.
