The Lituma Poncho is worked top-down, completely seamlessly and in-the-round, with a generous turtleneck, in a combination of a leaf motif lace and bobbles pattern. The increases, decreases and yarn overs of the lace pattern, as well as the bobbles, are only worked on odd rounds, making every even round a rest.

Instructions are both charted and written for your convenience and include options for a modern-style poncho with sleeves as well as a long sleeveless version.

Lituma is a fictional character created by Nobel prize-winning Peruvian author Mario Vargas Llosa. He appears as the protagonist in many novels, working as a detective.

GAUGE

Blocked: 19 stitches and 32 rounds = 4”/10 cm square in stockinette stitch.
Unblocked: 23 stitches and 32 rounds = 4”/10 cm square in stockinette stitch.
Blocked: 21 stitches and 27 rounds = 4”/10 cm square in lace stitch pattern.

For best results when working with hand dyed yarns, we strongly suggest alternating skeins of the same color throughout your project.
