Hi there! As promised, we are here trying to catch up on the designs that were missing a proper introduction at our blog. The next one on the list is the Janis Wrap, a squishy garter and mesh wrap worked on the bias. This wrap is a very easy knit, worked flat, perfect for tv or vacation knitting.
Everytime I picked up this knit to work on it, the delicate shades of these soft yarns, it reminded me so much of a lazy summer afternoon I could almost hear Janis Joplin singing “summertime and the living is easy…”.
A little more information about it:
FINISHED SIZE
Approximately 200 cm (80 in) length x 45 cm (18 in) width.
Dimensions are easy to modify if desired.
YARDAGE Approximately 830 m (900 yd) of fingering weight yarn in 2 colors.
Color A: 320 m (350 yd) Sample shows ChileKntiz Nube Fingering 100% Extrafine SuperWash Merino 4 ply 400 m/100 g (435 yd/3.5 oz) skein in colorway Imagination
Color B: 510 m (550 yd) Sample shows Michell & Cia Indiecita Natural Colours 100% Alpaca 167 m/50 g (183 yd/1.76 oz) skein in colorway Blanco Invierno 100
NEEDLES 4.00 mm (US 6) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Circular needles with 80 cm (32 in) cable length is recommended to accommodate all stitches comfortably.
NOTIONS & TOOLS blocking tools of your preference, scissors, tapestry needle
GAUGE 17 st x 34 rows in garter st in 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) after blocking;
Even though gauge is not crucial to this project, changes in it will affect your yardage and the final dimensions of your wrap.
